News from the Community Gardens
October 2017

Preparing the beds for a sowing of green manure to over-winter.

Update

Well the warm September we had has definitely turned to a rather wet and windy October, although still mild. Our seasonal gardening tasks are now leaning away from all the growing over the past few months and towards the maintenance projects we need to accomplish over the winter months.

However the kale and spinach continue to provide us with a bounty of healthy green veg and the broad beans and sweet peas for next year have already been sown.

The very established rhubarb has been divided up and re planted and the Jerusalem artichokes produced a huge harvest for all to enjoy!

Tuesday afternoons at Oaklands Park Community Garden have now stopped for the winter but Wednesday and Saturday morning sessions in the Bishop’s Palace Vegetable Garden continue throughout the year, so do come along as we'd love to see you.
